FINANCIAL SUPPORT
All first year Ph.D. students receive a teaching/research
assistantship in the form of a stipend ($18,500 for 1st year students
for the 2004-2005 fiscal year, with a step increase to $19,475 at
the start of year two) and are provided an out-of-state tuition
waiver, an in-state registration waiver, and health insurance coverage.
First year M.S. students receive comparable support, dependent upon
the availability of funds. Every student in our program is expected
to devote full time to research and graduate studies, 12 months
per year with time for vacation and holidays. Thus, students are
encouraged not to undertake regular outside employment.
